Just when I think I've seen it all in the Atlantic Ocean. I'm blown away by stand up paddling and discovering new things. I mean, I've lived on the water all of my 40 years- surfing, fishing, playing on the beach, sailing, boating, spear fishing, etc and have seen some cool stuff.
Early this morning, in the dark, I was blown away by what I saw. I was on a training paddle and the stars were out. The phosphorescence was going nuts as I began to paddle. Then looking down in the water, flashes of the glowing phosphorescence we lighting up underwater. Fish were darting around under my board causing 2 or 3 foot glowing streaks. These must have been blues, spanish, or maybe even large mullet. They were pretty big streaks. Then spots the size of doormats would light up as a large ray or flounder was spooked. A true underwater light show. It was really cool. If you are fighting the urge to try SUP, you are really missing out. You would be amazed at what you see…
